Remmy, one of the Fairplay horses (2014), has lived the last 3 1/2 years at the amazing Spirit Horse Ranch in Westcliffe. Recently, Remmy came home to live with "my" herd of horses -- and to be reunited with his pal, Buck. Back in the day, Buck and Remmy definitely had a "bromance" going on.
At the moment, there are some different romance's blossoming . . .
Jade + Remmy.
Remmy + Calypso.
The Fairplay horses, of which Remmy and Buck were a part of, have quite the story. It is a story of perseverance, inspiration and most importantly, love.
In 2014, twenty-nine starving and neglected horses were seized by state authorities from a ranch in Fairplay, Colorado. They were brought to the local sale barn where they were to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Within one week an entire community came together, led by a gaggle of amazing women of which I was a part of, to raise the money and the means to find homes for each one of these horses.
You can read more about that amazing story here.
Six of those horses came to live within my community, including Buck and Remmy. My life has never the same.
Remmy has ringbone in his front right foot from what looks to be an old run-in with a barbed-wire fence. Both front legs and right hoof bear the scars of an old, severe injury. But he has the most incredible and soft heart matched by a deep soul.
I'm in love already.
